Annual Events.

Here at Wolston Farm there are a number of events we hold every year. Exact dates change — check the calendar for the most current information. If you're only going to come out once, come out for one of these. And if you'd like to help at any of them, we always need hands.

Shearing Day

Usually the first Saturday in March.

We have the sheep shorn before lambing starts, because once they start to lamb the wool quality deteriorates. Whether the event is open to the public depends on the weather and how much help we have. When it is open, you can buy fleeces right off the sheep.

Meet the Lambs Day

Usually the second Saturday in April.

Our most popular event. Once lambing is in full swing we open the farm for people to come out and visit the lambs. All the lambs get names, and volunteers are on hand to let you pet the lambs and answer questions. If we have bottle babies, they're available for visitors to feed. Weather permitting, there are sheepdog demonstrations throughout the day.

Northwest Championship Sheepdog Trial

Third weekend in May.

Hosted by Whistle & Crook Stock Dog Services at our farm, held simultaneously with the Linn County Lamb and Wool Fair. This is the oldest continuously held sheepdog trial in the country.

Sheep Thrillz Stock Dog Trial

Usually the second weekend in July.

Our big sheepdog trial. It lasts four days and culminates in a double lift on the final day — the ultimate challenge for a sheepdog.

Boo and Baa Stock Dog Trial

Usually the weekend closest to Halloween.

A two-day trial, unusual in that many of the competitors compete in costume on Saturday.

Brr and Baa Stock Dog Trial

Typically the first weekend in January.

Combined with Boo and Baa, this is our winter championship. Due to wet ground at that time of year, this trial is not usually open to spectators.
