Shepherd's Crooks & Walking Sticks

Made by hand, from the farm.

Every crook and walking stick starts in a hedge, a horn shed, or a fallen piece of wood on the farm. Nothing is mass-produced. Nothing looks like anything else.

A shepherd's crook is a working tool — it needs to sit right in the hand, balance on the wrist, and last through a lifetime of weather and sheep. It is also, in the right light, a quiet sculpture. We try to honor both.

What We Make

Crooks, sticks, and everything between.

Shepherd's Crooks

Working crooks for real shepherds.

Horn-headed crooks built to be used. We take the time to get the neck shape, balance, and finish right so the crook feels like an extension of your arm, not a decoration.

Market Sticks

Lighter-handled, still working.

A more slender head and lighter shaft than a full shepherd's crook. Popular with handlers who want a crook to carry at trials and around the farm but not swing at a ewe.

Walking Sticks

Straight-handled, for the long walk.

Horn-, wood-, or antler-topped walking sticks. Finished for hiking, the pasture, or the high street. Each one one of a kind.

Custom Commissions

Built around a shape you already love.

Specific shaft, specific head material, specific finish. Commissions take time — sometimes a season or more — but the result is a stick that belongs to you from the first hedge.

Materials

The farm supplies the stick.

Shafts come from hedges we cut and cure on the farm — hazel, holly, ash, blackthorn, and others depending on the year. Heads come from horn shed by our own rams, from deer and elk antler, or from figured hardwoods saved from storm work. Finishes are traditional oil and wax.

Because everything starts on the farm, every stick has a provenance we can tell you about — which hedge, which ram, which winter.
