For K–12 classes. A kid-scale introduction to sheep, wool, working dogs, and where food and fiber come from. We can tailor the visit to your grade level and the time you have.

Ian starts with an introduction to the farm and the animals, then the class moves through a few stations depending on the season. If lambs are on the ground — usually from the beginning of March through the middle of May — there's a chance to meet and pet them. Raven walks the group through how everything on the farm has a job to do, using display boards to explain how wool goes from fleece to finished product, and points out the different colors and markings on the sheep.

Then it's the dogs' turn. Ian explains the commands the dogs follow, demonstrates a shepherd's whistle, and shows how the dogs' skills increase the amount of work one person could do alone — gathering, driving, and sorting sheep on command. There's time for questions throughout, and always time at the end for the ones that come up after.
